L. H. Dickert has been teaching at Winthrop University since 1993 and has the distinction of being Winthrop's first jazz guitarist on faculty. He has developed into a nationally recognized jazz guitarist, educator, and arranger. He has performed with a variety of artists including Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Randy Brecker, Lyle Lovett, Manhattan Transfer, Wayne Newton, James Ingram, Three Mo Tenors, Freddie Cole, and Dixie Carter.

 

At Winthrop L. H. Dickert teaches guitar, directs the Jazz Combos program, writes for and directs the Jazz Guitar Ensembles, and teaches graduate level Jazz History, and sometimes Music Theory. He also is the president of Winthrop's chapter of the honor society Phi Kappa Phi.
